Why You’ll Love It Here
Sackville effortlessly blends small town charm with big doses of natural wonder and vibrant cultural experiences (not to mention very, very short commutes to work.)
From midnight markets teeming with the works of local artisans to music festivals in the park, you’ll have no trouble planning a fun night out or a weekend getaway packed with outdoor adventures, all within minutes of your doorstep.
Living in Sackville
Nestled between city life, the world famous Bay of Fundy, and the warmest saltwater beach north of Virginia, Sackville invites you to live a life that’s as relaxed or as busy as you make it. Home to Mount Allison University (one of Canada’s top undergraduate universities) Sackville is as popular for its cute cafes and bustling breweries as it is for its award-winning Waterfowl Park.
Gone are your days of commuting for hours to get to and from work - everything here is a short walk, bike ride or drive away (which is probably why we won the 2021 Participaction Challenge for most active community in NB). Being part of the Tantramar region means there’s always something to explore and places like Moncton, francophone village Memramcook, and Nova Scotia are in close proximity, putting a ton of extra amenities (from French-first schools and childcare to job and educational opportunities for family members) and fun road trip opportunities close at hand.
Regardless of how you like to spend your time, there’s one thing you’re sure to encounter wherever you go: a warm, East Coast welcome. Living in a close-knit community means you’ll never feel lost in a crowd and a friendly wave or nod from a neighbour is guaranteed.

Horizon’s Sackville Memorial Hospital
Horizon's Sackville Memorial Hospital, is a community hospital that provides care and service to the town of Sackville and surrounding areas.
The hospital is located close to the university in a safe, family-friendly town, and is at the center of the Atlantic provinces – 30 minutes to Moncton’s international airport, 20 minutes from Nova Scotia and one hour from Prince Edward Island.
In Sackville, the small town team dynamics are more personal, allowing you to get to know all health care workers better and build stronger relationships with them. You’ll work with a collaborative team approach to patient care and will have access to opportunities that challenge you and build a broad range of skills - skills that you wouldn’t normally acquire working in a bigger, more segmented environment.
Working here allows you to enjoy the small-town environment and still have access to resources, training and development of the larger Horizon organization.
Sackville Memorial Hospital provides Emergency services and has 21 family practice beds. Other services provided at the hospital include the following: ambulatory care; dietitian and diabetic education; diagnostic imaging; family medicine; laboratory; palliative care; rehabilitation; speech language pathology; physiotherapy; occupational therapy; and a day surgery program.
